Shorebird Recovery

Ormond Beach is an important shorebird nesting habitat in Oxnard, California. From January 2018 to August 2018, I worked underneath field biologist Cynthia Hartley as a Ventura Audubon Society intern on the Explore the Coast Grant from the California Coastal Conservancy. We gathered population, nesting, and predation information on the California least tern and western snowy plover.

During my internship with the Ventura Audubon Society, I was in charge of scientific communication for their Facebook and Instagram accounts. Additionally, I worked to educate youth in Oxnard around endangered and threatened shorebirds in their backyard.
